How it works

  1. 01

    Name the topic

"Section 80C", "Consolidation of Financial Statements", "Audit Sampling" — any chapter or sub-topic works.

  2. 02

    Read the core explanation

The concept explained simply first — definitions, limits, and mechanics without the legalese.

  3. 03

    See it in practice

Two real-world use cases show how a practising CA actually applies the concept with clients.

  4. 04

    Check yourself

A short knowledge check — questions with answers — confirms you can recall and apply what you just read.

Explanation → application → recall, in one sitting

Study material is long because it must be complete. A study guide is short because it must be understood. Each guide follows the same three-part structure that mirrors how memory actually forms.

  • Core explanation in simple, direct language — the concept before the exceptions
  • Two practical use cases drawn from real CA practice: tax planning, return filing, audits
  • A knowledge check with model answers, so self-testing is built into the reading
  • Chapter and topic labelled on every guide, so it slots into your syllabus map

Use it before the textbook, not instead of it

The guide is a primer and a revision tool. Read it before opening the ICAI module and the chapter suddenly has a skeleton to hang details on. Read it again the night before the exam and it works as compressed revision notes.

Sample guide: Section 80C in three layers

Ask for "Section 80C" and the guide delivers:

Specimen outputas generated
  1. 1Explanation: deduction up to ₹1,50,000 per FY for individuals and HUFs on specified investments
  2. 2Use case 1: advising a salaried client to combine PPF + tuition fees to fill the limit
  3. 3Use case 2: aggregating LIC, EPF and home-loan principal while filing a return
  4. 4Knowledge check: "Can a company claim 80C?" — No, individuals and HUFs only

How specific can the topic be?

As specific as you need. "Direct Tax" works, but "Deduction under Section 80C" works better — narrower topics produce sharper guides. You can generate as many guides as there are topics in your syllabus.

Is this a replacement for ICAI study material?

No — it's the fastest way in and the fastest way back. Use guides to understand a concept before the textbook, and to revise it after. The ICAI module remains the authority for exam completeness.

What's in the knowledge check?

Two questions with model answers targeting the exact concept in the guide. They're designed for self-assessment — attempt before reading the answer, and you know immediately whether to re-read or move on.

Are the use cases exam-relevant?

Yes — they're drawn from the situations CA exams love to test: tax planning decisions, return filing, audit scenarios, and client advisory. Understanding the practical application is what case-study questions reward.
