CA Intermediate 6-Month Study Plan (Both Groups)
Both groups in one attempt is a 1,200-hour project: four months of first study interleaving practical and theory papers, one month of group-wise revision, and one month of mocks. The plan pairs each practical paper (Accounting, Costing, FM) with a theory partner (Law, Audit, SM) so writing practice and reading never crowd each other out.
Who it's for: Students attempting both groups of CA Intermediate together, starting roughly six months out — typically right after Foundation results or during the study period.

The schedule
Advanced Accounting + Corporate & Other Laws + Costing (part)
Advanced Accounting daily in the morning block. Law in the afternoon with section-writing practice. Start Cost & Management Accounting in week 5 with two chapters a week.
Taxation + FM-SM + Auditing & Ethics + Costing (finish)
Income-tax heads of income get the morning block; GST alternates with FM. Audit reading pairs with Costing problem sets. Close every tax chapter with 10 computation questions.
Group-wise full revision
Fortnight per group. Each day = one practical + one theory paper. Chapter-wise tests throughout; formula sheets and section charts get their final form this month.
Mocks + past papers + second revision
Six papers × two mocks each on alternate days, from the past-papers library, in the real exam slot. Off-days clear the error log. Final week: one-page-per-chapter speed revision only.
A typical day
| Morning · 3.5 hrs | Practical paper (Accounts / Costing / FM / Tax computation) |
| Afternoon · 3 hrs | Theory paper (Law / Audit / SM) |
| Evening · 1.5 hrs | MCQ practice for the 30-mark objective portions |
| Night · 30 min | Error log + next-day targets |
Rules that keep the plan alive
- The 30:70 pattern means 30 objective marks per paper — daily MCQ drills are a scoring strategy, not an add-on.
- ICAI study material questions and RTPs/MTPs outrank any coaching material in the final two months.
- Write full answers for Law and Audit weekly; reading fluency does not transfer to writing speed.
- If both groups feel impossible by month 4, decide then — a deliberate single-group attempt beats a panicked both-group one.

Talk to usShould I attempt both groups of CA Intermediate together?
If you have six clear months and can sustain 8–9 hours daily, yes — both groups together saves an attempt cycle and keeps overlapping subjects fresh. Otherwise a focused single-group attempt has a higher per-group success rate.
How do I balance practical and theory subjects?
Pair them daily rather than block-scheduling weeks of one type: practical papers in your peak-focus morning block, theory in the afternoon, MCQs in the evening.
What role do RTPs and MTPs play?
Revision Test Papers and Mock Test Papers from ICAI signal the current examination emphasis. Solve the latest two editions of each in month 6 — several exam questions echo them.
