Every step, and what it is worth.
Solutions here are set as answer scripts, not as answers. Each step carries the marks an examiner would award it, so you can see exactly where a paper is won — and which single line, skipped, costs you the question.
Four ways to practise the same numerical.
The same chapter needs different practice at different points in an attempt. Pick the type that matches where you are.
Concept drill
2 problemsOne idea, one short computation. Use these when you have just read a chapter and want to check that the mechanics actually landed.
Exam-style question
4 problemsFull-length questions set at the length and marks an ICAI paper uses, with the working laid out the way an examiner expects to read it.
Speed drill
2 problemsShort computations you should be able to finish inside the stated minutes. Built for the last four weeks before an attempt.
Trap drill
2 problemsProblems built around the specific step where most students lose marks. The trap is the point of the question.
Two ways to practise. Only one of them pays.
ICAI awards marks step by step. The way you practise should match the way you are marked.
Final-figure practice
- Check the answer key, tick or cross, move on
- A right answer hides a method you half-guessed
- A wrong answer gives no clue which step failed
- Presentation is never rehearsed, so it fails in the hall
- Speed never improves, because nothing times the steps
Answer-script practice
- Every step written out and checked against the marking
- The marks gutter shows which lines the examiner pays for
- A wrong answer is traced to the exact step that caused it
- Working-note format becomes habit before the exam
- Per-question minutes reveal where the time actually goes
Pick the chapter you keep avoiding.
Grouped by chapter, with the marks each question is set for.

Talk to usHow should I practise CA numericals?
Read a chapter, then do a concept drill to check the mechanics landed. Once several chapters are done, move to exam-style questions under time. In the last month, switch to speed drills and trap drills — by then the constraint is not knowledge, it is minutes and careless errors.
Why does every step here carry marks?
Because ICAI awards marks step by step, not for the final figure alone. A correct answer with no working scores poorly, and a wrong final figure with correct working scores well. Seeing where the marks sit changes how you write an answer.
What is a trap drill?
A problem built around the specific step where most students lose marks — weighting a price variance by the wrong quantity, computing a standard deduction on the wrong base, setting off CGST credit against SGST. The trap is the point of the question rather than an incidental risk.
How many numericals should I solve before an attempt?
Volume matters less than coverage and repetition. Solve every distinct problem type in a chapter at least twice, and re-solve anything you got wrong a week later without looking at the solution. That second pass is what actually moves marks.
Ten worked problems teach the method. A hundred build the speed.
