Stage by stage
The current (2023 scheme) pipeline after Class 12:
- Register for Foundation with ICAI's Board of Studies (any stream can register; Class 12 pass required to appear).
- Serve the four-month study period, then appear for Foundation (4 papers) in a Jan/May/Sep attempt.
- Register for Intermediate; after an eight-month study period, appear for one or both groups (6 papers).
- Clear both Intermediate groups → complete ICITSS training → start two-year articleship.
- Complete self-paced online modules (SPOM) alongside training.
- Appear for Final (6 papers) as per eligibility after training; clear both groups.
- Complete AICITSS, apply for membership — prefix 'CA' unlocked.
The direct-entry alternative
Graduates skip Foundation entirely: commerce graduates with 55% (others with 60%) register straight for Intermediate. This suits students who discover CA late — the trade-off is starting the toughest level cold, without the Foundation warm-up.
