The verdict
Choose CA if your career centres on India — audit signing authority, taxation practice and Indian corporate roles. Choose ACCA if you target multinational roles, the Middle East or the UK, or want faster, more flexible completion. Many students do CA first and add ACCA later with generous paper exemptions.
Choose CA (ICAI) if…
- You want to practise audit or tax in India or start your own firm.
- Statutory signing authority and ICAI membership matter for your goals.
- You are targeting Indian corporates, Big 4 India audit practice, or government/bank empanelment.
Choose ACCA (UK) if…
- You plan to work in the Gulf, UK, Singapore or with multinational finance teams.
- You want flexible exam scheduling and per-paper progression.
- You already have a commerce degree and want exemptions to shorten the journey.

Talk to usCan I do CA and ACCA together?
Yes. Many students pursue ACCA after CA Intermediate or Final — a qualified CA gets exemptions in up to 9 of ACCA's 13 papers, making the add-on relatively fast.
Is ACCA easier than CA?
Per-paper pass rates are higher in ACCA (35–50% vs CA's 10–20% per level) and its modular format reduces pressure, but its final-level papers are rigorous. CA's difficulty is driven by grouped attempts and aggregate criteria.
Who earns more, CA or ACCA?
In India, fresh CAs generally out-earn fresh ACCA affiliates. Abroad — especially the Gulf and UK — ACCA's local recognition can flip the equation.
