Step by step
- 01
Confirm your entry route
You enter either by clearing CA Foundation, or through Direct Entry as a graduate or postgraduate meeting the prescribed marks criteria. The documents required differ between the two.
- 02
Register on the SSP portal
Log in to your existing Self Service Portal account and apply for Intermediate registration. Foundation-route students use the same account created earlier.
- 03
Upload documents and pay fees
Direct Entry candidates must upload degree mark sheets evidencing the required percentage. Pay the registration fee and retain the acknowledgement.
- 04
Complete the required study period
A minimum study period must elapse between registration and the exam. Register early enough that this period is complete before your intended attempt.
Documents you will need
- Foundation pass certificate, for the Foundation route
- Graduation or post-graduation mark sheets, for Direct Entry
- Proof of date of birth
- Recent passport-size photograph and signature in prescribed formats
- Category certificate, where applicable
What usually goes wrong
- Registering too late to complete the mandatory study period before the attempt
- Direct Entry candidates not meeting the prescribed percentage criteria
- Assuming both groups must be attempted together — they may be attempted separately
- Not planning articleship registration timing alongside Intermediate

Talk to usWhat is the Direct Entry route?
It allows eligible graduates and postgraduates meeting prescribed percentage criteria to enter CA Intermediate without clearing Foundation. Confirm the current percentage requirements on the ICAI website.
Must I attempt both groups together?
No. Groups may be attempted together or separately. Attempting one group at a time is common where preparation time is limited, though attempting both has scheduling advantages.
How long must I study before the exam?
ICAI prescribes a minimum study period between registration and eligibility to appear. Check the current requirement and count backwards from your intended attempt.
The form takes an hour. The syllabus takes a year.
