Step by step
- 01
Create your SSP account
Register on the ICAI Self Service Portal with a valid email and mobile number. Every later action — exam forms, conversions, articleship — runs through this same account, so use a permanent email address.

Fill the Foundation registration form
Enter your personal details, qualification details and address exactly as they appear on your official documents. Mismatches are the most common cause of rejection and delay.

Upload documents and pay the fee
Upload the prescribed documents in the specified formats and sizes, then pay the registration fee online. Save the payment acknowledgement.

Receive registration confirmation
Once verified, your registration is confirmed and study material is dispatched or made available. Your registration number is what you will quote in every future interaction with ICAI.
Documents you will need
- Class 10 mark sheet or admit card as proof of date of birth
- Class 12 mark sheet or admit card, or proof of appearance
- Recent passport-size photograph in the prescribed format
- Signature in the prescribed format
- Category certificate, where applicable
- Proof of nationality, where applicable
What usually goes wrong
- Name spelling differing between the ICAI form and your mark sheets
- Uploading documents outside the prescribed file size or format
- Missing the registration cut-off for the intended exam attempt
- Using a temporary email address you will lose access to later

ICAI prescribes a cut-off date before each exam session by which registration must be complete. Confirm the exact date for your intended attempt on the ICAI website, as it changes every session.
Can I register before my Class 12 results?
ICAI permits provisional registration after appearing in Class 12, subject to the conditions notified. Your eligibility to sit the exam still depends on meeting the prescribed requirements.
How long is Foundation registration valid?
Registration is valid for a fixed term after which revalidation is required. Check the current validity period and revalidation procedure notified by ICAI.
